Your Project

When you make the decision of updating the style of your space, you might assume you will end up replacing a lot of your existing furniture and decor. Easily done with a high budget. But what if you don’t have deep pockets? If you don’t, I will help you to figure out how to have a space that you truly love with a lot of what you already own. After all….

“Your home should tell the story of who you are and be a collection of what you love”

Everything you need to create your new space

Give your furniture a second life

Unless you want to go the whole nine yards and have a deep makeover done, you can surely give a chance to your existing furniture, either placing it in different spots or in another room. You could also throw in some elbow grease and do some little DIY, giving a fresh look to your furniture by painting it with the latest color trends.

Paint... The classic makeover potion

Just by changing the color of a room, will give you immediately the feeling of “a new look”. There are also many other options, like painting in the room one wall only, in a focal colr. Or paint a contrasting rectangle over a sofa to use as “gallery” sapce. You can also paint the inside of bookshelves in an unexpected color.

Imagine your walls as a white canvas

Take down all your paintings and other art and move them around to different walls or different rooms. It will be like seeing them for the first time. Also you might want to skip some framing as unframed canvas art looks beautiful and makes a statement.

Play with lighting

Nothing makes or breaks a room quite like lighting. It changes the mood, sets the ambiance, and can help define spaces like living and dining rooms or nooks and kitchens, particularly in open-concept layouts. Plus, why settle for bad lighting when the fun, functional options out there are endless?

Declutter!

Before you start worrying about what you can do to renovate your space, consider first what you should get rid of. Dated, worn, or damaged items could be doing the look of your space a disservice, and if they’re non-essential, removing them can give your space a clean fresh slate. Take some time out every year to clean and reorganize the place.

Update your window dressings

Homestores have realms of ready made draperies you can hem to the right size or leave to puddle on the floor. Or you can make your own from fabrics from a designer outlet or local markets. Hang from an attractive new curtain rod.

The art of arrangements

Pick up in the park, woods or beach interesting seasonal accents. A tray filled with pinecones, a bowl of shells can make an eye catching decor accessory. Create a gallery wall of family photos in matching (or contrasting) frams, arranged in a collage on the wall such a stairwell or hallway.
